How the Tool Works
This tool provides an interactive pre-flight checklist that drone pilots can use before every flight. It helps ensure all critical safety checks are completed before takeoff.
Features
- Interactive Checklist: 10 standard pre-flight items that can be toggled on/off by tapping. Completed items are shown with a green checkmark and strikethrough.
- Save Checklists: Save your current checklist state with a custom title. Saved checklists are stored in the browser’s
localStorageand persist across sessions. - Load Saved Checklists: Load any previously saved checklist to restore its state.
- Delete Saved Checklists: Remove saved checklists you no longer need.
- Reset to Default: Reset the checklist back to the default 10 items.
- Download as .txt: Export the current checklist state (with checkmarks) as a plain text file.

FAQs
1. Where are my saved checklists stored?
Saved checklists are stored in your browser’s localStorage. They persist across page reloads and browser sessions on the same device/browser. They are not stored on a server and will not sync across devices.
2. Can I customize the checklist items?
Currently, the checklist uses a fixed set of 10 standard pre-flight items. You can save different states of these items with different titles, but you cannot add or remove items.
3. Why is a pre-flight checklist important?
A pre-flight checklist is a critical safety practice. It ensures you don’t forget important checks like battery levels, GPS signal, or airspace restrictions, which can prevent accidents, crashes, and legal issues.
4. What happens if I clear my browser data?
If you clear your browser’s localStorage (e.g., via browser settings or incognito mode), your saved checklists will be deleted. Download your checklist as .txt if you need a permanent record.
5. Can I use this on my phone?
Yes. The checklist is fully responsive and works on mobile, tablet, and desktop. Tap items to toggle them on/off.
6. Is this checklist legally required?
While a pre-flight checklist is not legally mandated in most jurisdictions, it is considered a best practice and is often required by drone training programs, insurance policies, and organizational safety protocols.
7. What should I do if I fail a checklist item?
If any item fails (e.g., low battery, damaged propeller, poor GPS), do not fly. Address the issue first, or abort the flight. Safety should always come first.
